Lottie AI FAQ: Product and features

Common questions about modes, editing, devices, limits, and exporting.

Getting started

Is there a way to see examples before I start?
Yes. The Start with examples section on the Lottie AI home screen shows sample animations you can explore. You can also use Browse prompt ideas to find categorized, ready-to-use prompts.

Can I use Lottie AI on mobile?
Yes. Lottie AI works on desktop, iPad, iPhone, and Android devices. For the best experience, we recommend a desktop, as some mobile features are still being improved. On iPhone, keep the screen on until generation is complete, as locking it may interrupt generation.

What’s the difference between Turbo and Quality mode?
Turbo is optimized for speed and works well for simple prompts. Quality runs a more detailed, multi-stage generation. It takes longer but gives more refined results, especially for complex animations. See Lottie AI generation modes and quality options.

Creating and editing

Can I animate my own artwork instead of generating from scratch?
Yes. You can bring in your own SVG as a starting point. See Add your own file to Lottie AI.

Does Lottie AI support animating text?
Yes. Lottie AI can animate text as well as shapes and icons.

How can I make small adjustments to an animation?
Use the Objects & Controls panel next to the preview to adjust colors, text, and sizes directly. See Edit your animation with Objects & Controls.

You can also describe changes in a prompt, but prompt-based changes that regenerate the animation use credits. For advanced editing, click Open in Creator.

Can I match my brand colors across multiple animations?
Yes. Use the Color palette setting to limit generations to your brand colors. See Lottie AI animation settings.

Can I collaborate with teammates in real time?
Not at the moment, but you can click Share and send the link to teammates for feedback.

Limits

Is there a prompt character limit?
Yes. Prompts can be up to 20,000 characters.

What are the file size and duration limits?
Generated animations can be 1–10 seconds long. Imported SVG files can be up to 5 MB.

Exporting

What format should I export in?

  • Apps or websites with a Lottie player: dotLottie (recommended) or Lottie JSON
  • Video: MP4, WebM, or MOV (ProRes 4444)
  • Lightweight animated images: GIF, APNG, or Animated WebP
  • Handing off to a mobile developer: SwiftUI or Jetpack Compose

See Export your Lottie AI animation for the full list.
