Edit your animation with Objects & Controls

Manage the parts of your animation and fine-tune its look and motion.

After you generate an animation, the Objects & Controls panel appears to the right of the preview. Use it to adjust individual parts of your animation, or to change the look and feel of the whole thing.

To hide or show the panel, click the panel icon at the top right, next to Export.

Objects tab

The Objects tab lets you view and manage the individual parts that make up your animation. Each part is an object, similar to a layer in a design tool.

Use it to:

  • See what’s in your animation: Every part is listed, and you can expand groups to see what’s inside them.
  • Find a part quickly: Search or filter by name.
  • Control each part separately: Hide, lock, rename, duplicate, reorder, group, mask, or delete it.

Controls tab

The Controls tab lets you change the look and feel of the entire animation using simple settings.

Control What it does
Looks Click the dice button (Shuffle to try variations) to get suggested looks, such as Dreamy, Night, Vibrant, or Vintage. Select one to apply it. Keep shuffling until you find one you like.
Recolor Adjust Hue, Saturation, Lightness, and Contrast to change the overall color feel.
Energy Drag the slider between Calm and Wild to change how lively the movement is.
Quick changes Adjust the most common settings in one place, such as speed, color mood, and body visibility.
Vibe Change the overall feel of the animation.
Object sections A section for each part of your animation, named after its object (for example, The Bird or Wings & Tail). Open a section to fine-tune that part, such as its size, position, and colors. The number next to the section name shows how many controls it contains.
Scripts (experimental) Adds extra motion behavior to parts of your animation. For example, a script can make an object’s scale or rotation follow a smooth, eased curve instead of a straight line. Each script shows which object it affects (such as Wing Front), what it changes (such as Layout or Motion), and the effect it applies (such as smoothstep). This feature is still in development and may change.

Note: The sections and controls you see depend on your animation, so they may differ from the ones listed above.

Open in Creator

For advanced editing, click Open in Creator at the bottom of the Objects & Controls panel. Lottie Creator gives you the full set of editing tools to keep working on your animation.
