Create an animation with Lottie AI

Lottie AI turns a text prompt into editable, vector-based motion you can use in your projects. Instead of building keyframes by hand, you describe what you want to animate, and Lottie AI produces an animation you can preview, refine, and export in multiple formats.

Create an animation with Lottie AI

Step 1: Open Lottie AI

Start from the prompt box on the home page, or click Studio in the top bar to open a new, untitled animation.

Once you’re in Studio, you can start another animation at any time by clicking + next to the animation title.

Step 2: Describe your animation

Describe what you want in plain language. For example:

  • A rocket launching with a trailing smoke arc
  • A coin flipping with a metallic shimmer
  • A paper plane looping over a city skyline

💡 Tip: Not sure what to type?

  • In Studio: Click Browse prompt ideas under the prompt suggestions, or click More (…) at the bottom of the left sidebar and select Prompt guide. Both open the Prompt ideas library, where you can pick a ready-made prompt and use it as is or customize it.
  • On the home page: Click the dice icon next to the send button to fill in a random example prompt.

Step 3: Fine-tune before generating (optional)

  • Settings: Click the slider icon at the bottom left of the prompt box to set the Duration, Color palette, or Size. See Animation Settings.
  • Add file: Add your own SVG file to the canvas, describe how it should move, then click Generate to turn it into an animation.
  • Generation mode: Use the mode selector next to the send button to choose Turbo (default) or Quality. See Generation Modes and Quality Options.

Step 4: Generate your animation

Click the send button (up-arrow icon). Your animation appears in the preview at the center of the screen, with the Objects & Controls panel on the right.

To hide or show the panel, click the panel icon at the top right, next to Export.

Step 5: Adjust your animation

Use the Objects & Controls panel to make further adjustments. See Edit your animation with Objects & Controls for more details.

For more advanced editing, click Open in Creator at the bottom of the panel to continue working on your animation in Lottie Creator.

Step 6: Export your animation

When your animation is ready, click Export and choose a format, including Lottie, GIF, MP4, WebM, and more. See Exporting Your Animation for details.

Step 7: Share your animation

Click Share, then copy the share link to send your animation to others.
