Troubleshooting SCIM Provisioning Role Mismatch Issues

When using SCIM (System for Cross-domain Identity Management) to automate user provisioning, roles assigned in your identity provider (IdP) should automatically reflect in your LottieFiles workspace. If you're experiencing role mismatches, this guide will help you identify and resolve the issue.

Common Causes and Solutions

1. User Existed Before SCIM Was Enabled

The Issue:
Users who were invited to the workspace and assigned roles before SCIM provisioning was enabled may not be properly linked to the SCIM system, causing incorrect or missing role assignments.

How to Fix It:

  1. When SCIM is enabled, existing users will receive an email invitation to join the workspace via Single Sign-On (SSO)
  2. The user must accept this invitation and rejoin through SSO
  3. This process re-links their account to the identity system, allowing SCIM to assign the correct role based on your IdP settings

2. Seat Allocation Limit Reached

The Issue:
If you've reached the maximum number of seats for a specific role (such as Admin or Editor), newly provisioned users may not receive their intended role or may be assigned a fallback role instead.

How to Fix It:

  1. Check your current seat allocation in your workspace's admin panel
  2. Verify whether the role limit has been reached
  3. If you need additional seats, contact our sales team at sales@lottiefiles.com to increase your capacity
