Understanding Upload and Download Limits on the Free Plan

If you're using the Free plan, here's how uploads and downloads work.

📁 Private File Uploads

Free users can upload up to 5 private files to their workspace.

Note: This limit is based on the total number of private files you've uploaded over time, not the number currently stored in your workspace.

Deleting private files does not restore your upload quota. If you need additional private uploads, you'll need to upgrade to a paid plan.

🌐 Public Animation Uploads

Free users can upload an unlimited number of public animations to the LottieFiles Community using the LottieFiles for After Effects and LottieFiles for Figma plugins.

Once published, your animations become part of the public library and can be discovered and downloaded by the community.

📥 Public Animation Downloads

Free users can download up to 10 public animations per month.

  • The download quota resets on the 1st of every month.
  • This limit is separate from your private file upload quota.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the private file upload limit include Lottie Creator files?

No. Files created and saved using Lottie Creator do not count toward your private file upload limit. You can save an unlimited number of Lottie Creator files.

Do exports from LottieFiles plugins (e.g. After Effects, Figma) count toward the private file upload limit?

It depends on how you export the animation.

Exports to your private workspace

  • After Effects: Exports saved as private files count toward your 5-file private upload limit.
  • Figma: Exports created using Figma Motion or Figma to Lottie are unlimited and do not count toward your private file upload limit.

Exports to the Public Animation Library

Animations exported directly to the Public Animation Library are unlimited and do not count toward your private file upload limit.


How do public animation downloads work?

You can browse the Public Animation Library and download up to 10 public animations per month.

Your download quota resets on the 1st of each month and is independent of your private file upload limit.


Can I upload animations to the Public Animation Library?

Yes. Free users can publish an unlimited number of animations to the Public Animation Library using supported LottieFiles plugins.
