Fair usage limit

Why you might see the “Fair usage limit reached” message when downloading animations, and what to do next.

If you see Fair usage limit reached when downloading an animation, your workspace has hit today's download limit. Downloads pause until the daily reset, then work as normal again.

This message can appear on the LottieFiles website and in your workspace.

Why this happens

All animation downloads are covered by our Fair Usage Policy. The policy keeps LottieFiles fast and reliable for everyone and protects the animation library from mass downloading and misuse.

  • The limit applies per workspace, per day, so downloads by everyone in the workspace count toward it.
  • It applies to all plans.
  • It applies to both free and premium animation downloads.

Most people never reach this limit. It is designed to catch unusually high download volumes, not normal day-to-day use.

What you'll see

When the limit is reached and you try to download an animation, a Fair usage limit reached message appears instead of the download. It tells you:

  • That you've reached today's fair usage limit for downloads.
  • When the limit resets: daily at 00:00 UTC, also shown in your local time (for example, 08:00 AM in UTC+8).
  • A link to About fair usage, which opens the Fair Usage Policy.

Select Got it to close the message. You can keep browsing, previewing and working in your workspace.

What to do next

  1. Wait for the daily reset. The limit resets every day at 00:00 UTC. Check the message for the time in your timezone.
  2. Download again after the reset. No action is needed on your side. Downloads resume automatically.
  3. Plan larger batches ahead. If your team often needs many animations at once, spread downloads across days or download only what each project needs.
  4. Contact support if it's urgent or if you regularly need higher volumes (see below).

Contacting support

If you can't wait for the reset, contact our support team. To help us review your request quickly, include:

  • Your workspace name and the email address on your account.
  • What you're using the animations for, such as the product, website or campaign.
  • Roughly how many animations you need and by when.
  • Whether this is a one-off need or something that will happen regularly.

The more detail you share about your use case, the faster we can help.

Need bulk or high-volume downloads?

If your team regularly needs to download a large number of animations, let our support team know. Share your use case and expected volume, and we'll explore a plan that fits your needs so your downloads aren't interrupted by the limit.

FAQ

What is the exact download limit? We don't publish a fixed number. The limit is set well above normal usage and may be adjusted to keep the service fair for everyone.

Does the limit apply to me or my whole workspace? Your whole workspace. Downloads by all members count toward the same daily limit.

Will upgrading my plan remove the limit? The limit applies to all plans. If you need higher volumes, contact support so we can find the right option for you.

Does the limit apply to free animations too? Yes. Both free and premium animation downloads count toward the daily limit.

Is my account suspended? No. Reaching the daily limit only pauses downloads until the next reset. Repeated or serious misuse may lead to further action under the Fair Usage Policy.
