Animation Licensing on LottieFiles

Free animations: Lottie Simple License

Free animations on LottieFiles are covered by the Lottie Simple License. Under this license, you can:

✅ Download and use for free
✅ Use commercially in business projects, websites, apps, and products
✅ Modify and edit to create your own versions (derivative works)
✅ Publish and distribute as part of your products and services
✅ Skip attribution. Crediting the creator isn’t required, but it’s strongly encouraged. If you do credit them, make the credit visible to your end users.

Conditions to keep in mind:

  • If you share or distribute an animation, or a modified version of one, it stays under the Lottie Simple License. You can’t add your own terms or apply restrictions (like DRM) that limit what others can do with it.
  • You can’t collect or compile animations from LottieFiles to build a similar or competing service.

Premium animations

Premium animations are available on paid plans and include a license for commercial use. For the full license terms, see our Terms of Sale.

 

You can keep using the premium animations you downloaded while your subscription was active, including in projects that are already published. You only need an active subscription to download new premium animations.

Animations you upload

  • Public uploads: You keep ownership, and your animation is shared with the community under the Lottie Simple License.
  • Private uploads: These stay in your workspace and aren’t shared publicly.
