Installation Guide for After Effects Plugin
System Requirements

After Effects 13.0 or higher
- Mac OS X 10.13+ or Windows 10+
- Active internet connection for installation
- 100MB free disk space
Step 1: Download the Plugin
- Navigate to the LottieFiles for After Effects plugin page in your web browser.
- Choose your preferred download method:
- Adobe Creative Cloud (Recommended): Provides automatic installation and updates
- AEScripts: Manual download option requiring ZXP Installer
- Click Download Plugin.
- Save the installer to an easily accessible location (Desktop or Downloads folder recommended).
Step 2: Prepare After Effects
Before installing, ensure a smooth setup:
- Close After Effects completely if it's currently running to prevent file conflicts
- Verify your After Effects version is compatible (CC 2018 or later required)
Step 3: Run the Installer
For Manual Installation:
- Locate your downloaded installer file
- Double-click to launch the installer
- Follow the on-screen prompts
Step 4: Select Installation Directory
The installer needs to know where After Effects is installed:
- The installer should automatically detect your After Effects path
- If auto-detection fails, manually navigate to:
- Windows: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects [version]
- Mac: /Applications/Adobe After Effects [version]
- Confirm the path and proceed
Step 5: Complete Installation
- The installer will copy plugin files to your After Effects directory
- Wait for the confirmation screen indicating successful installation
- Click Finish or Close to exit
- Launch After Effects
Step 6: Verify Installation
Confirm the plugin is working correctly:
- Open After Effects
- Navigate to Window > Extensions > LottieFiles
- The plugin panel should appear with these features:
- Import/export Lottie animations
- Preview animations directly in After Effects
- Access your LottieFiles workspace
Updating the Plugin
- The plugin will notify you when updates are available
- Click "Update" in the notification
- Restart After Effects after updating
Troubleshooting Installation
- If the plugin doesn't appear, ensure you're using a compatible version of After Effects
- Try running the installer as Administrator (Windows) or with sudo (Mac)
- Check that your security settings allow third-party plugins
